Year 5 have had fun investigating different materials in Design and Technology. They explored a range of material properties, including whether materials were smooth or rough, waterproof, durable, strong, natural or man-made.

The children tested and discussed how different materials behave and thought about which materials would be most suitable for a specific product.

Their challenge was to choose a material to make a water bottle carrier bag. After their investigation, the class concluded that the material should be hard-wearing, strong and waterproof so that it can safely carry a bottle and last a long time.
