Athens or Sparta? A Tough Decision!

This week, Year 5 have been learning all about Ancient Greece in History. We explored the differences between Athens and Sparta and discovered what life was like for people living in these two very different city-states.

We then put our learning into action with a game of Conscience Alley. The children took turns walking down the alley while their classmates tried to persuade them to choose either Athens or Sparta as their new home.

The children came up with some wonderful and convincing reasons for choosing each city-state. From education, democracy and the arts in Athens to strength, discipline and military training in Sparta, there were plenty of arguments to consider!

It was certainly a tough decision, as both sides made some very persuasive points. Well done, Year 5, for using your historical knowledge so confidently and enthusiastically!
