Year 1 enjoyed role-playing shopping in the past. Mrs Robson’s mum visited class to help explain the differences in how shopping was different in the past. Year 1 had great fun experiencing the differences through role playing being shopkeepers and customers. They used the scales to weigh out the vegetables and enjoyed adding the weights to balance it. It was different to use a shopping basket rather than a plastic bag. The shopkeepers greeted the customers and enjoyed serving them. The customers lined up and waited patiently to be served. The customers paid with cash as no card payments or contactless were available then. Customers only shopped for what they needed daily rather than one big weekly shop. It was great fun learn through play.
